Jéjé Vidal

Who is Jeje?

My name is Edmilson da Cruz Camblé and I'm known as Jéjé Vidal. I'm a professional surfer, born in São Tomé and Príncipe, a country made up of two islands, the island of São Tomé, which was where I was born and raised, and the island of Príncipe. I currently live in Portugal, the country that gave me the opportunity to evolve in terms of surfing and also to develop other areas, such as modeling.

I'm a person who believes in my goals and what I do to achieve them. I'm persistent but also, I'm humble to the point of knowing that alone I won't have the same outcome.

How did surfing come into your life?

I was once sitting by the sea, and there was a Portuguese named Pedro Almeida surfing in the water and at the time I didn't even know what sport it was. And I was excited to try it. So I went home and took a piece of wooden board off my bed and went to the sea and that's when that passion for surfing started.

How did you come to Portugal?

In August 2013 I came to Portugal to train with David Raimundo and Nuno Telmo. I liked the experience and that's why I took the opportunity that after 4 years I definitely came to Portugal. At this stage, I had the support of Paulo Pichel, Miguel Ribeiro and Xenico Vidal.

What is your biggest goal right now?

Entering the Meo league, having first to get Portuguese nationality. Continue to improve my Qualification Series Rankings result;

Win several awards worldwide and also intend to establish myself through the creation of a company related to tourism in São Tomé, which will have a strong connection with this sport that moves me daily. Create ways to help children in São Tomé.

How do you feel about being part of the Deeply team?

Deeply is making me meet a new family. This partnership gives me new opportunities, especially in terms of surfing, and also opens up horizons for other realities. I am very happy to be part of the team.
